Last summer’s nautical trend has re-emerged this season.  It’s dropped the anchor, lost the preppy crest and is moving forward solely with its stripes.

There’s a fresh simplicity when it comes to this dual-color, almost always, horizontal pattern that we have become so addicted to.  Perhaps its synonymy of a Parisian Coco Chanel makes us fathom a simpler time when we did have picnics in the park.

The dress itself lends itself towards versatility.  Allow it to stand on its own or pair it with a tailored blazer or cardigan.  While you can do the look with a bootie pre-pedicure, do a fun pair of flats post pedicure.

Seen here: Nicole Miller Artelier sleeveless dress ($300), Feel The Peace short-sleeved dress ($110), Lola Cruz flats ($225).

Brochu Walker: Effortlessly Chic

When it comes to fashion for women, comfort isn’t antecedence—yes, we’re all guilty of that.  I recently read an article in the Wall Street Journal about how fashion can kill such as matchstick jeans which can cause digestive problems.  And don’t even get me started on those Alexander McQueen Lady Gaga shoes.

Fashion is supposed to make us feel good—I am convinced that certain fabrics give us endorphins—without any scientific basis of course—but yet, some contemporary pieces have just gotten so complicated.  And now, feeling good has just turned into looking good.

Enter Brochu Walker, co-owned by Lisa Brochu and Lauren Walker, two women who are even more gorgeous than their clothes.  The company which began in 2008 has a silent allure about it.  Effortlessly chic, the clothing provides unquestionable versatility lending itself to a pair of kitten heels or an easy day at home with your family—it mirrors the woman of today.

Brochu Walker Spring 2012 plays with washed silks and chiffons that provide a much needed feeling of lightness and therefore confidence that comes with being serene in your clothes.  A sigh of relief comes from wearing any piece of this collection—looking good and feeling good—Brochu Walker does fashion the way it’s supposed to be.
